Back in my academic career I played a lot with Mathematica and MatLab and I later used them to produce my first 3D output and input GUI for the urban/regional spatio-temporal dynamic simulators... with code interacting with my external C functions.

I programed most of my scientific models (econometrics, forecasting, non-linear dynamic models) during my higher studies and carreer of a researcher and forecaster in C/C++ and FORTRAN.
I programmed a software for the E.U. Commission that non only implemented a macro-economic forecasting model used by the State's budget commissions but also permanently re-estimated its own structure and coefficients at regular intervals using a primitive form of artificial intelligence.
Another major production was a 3D rendering of spatio-temporal urban dynamics in terms of major economic activities, real estate built-up and traffic, all of this supplemented with a GUI allowing the player/experimenter to change in real time the parameters of the dynamic (a bit like SimCity but much more scientific).
For the rest I cannot describe the countless utilities created in bash and C-shell at server levels..

I have been teaching java programming at professional schools, and used it in most of my corporate web applications (internet log analysis, SEO production facility, internet visitors identification based on logs, urban dynamics GUI, automatic pdf publications). My experience ranges from applets to servlets to J2EE to Facelets and is recently experimenting with the redesigned JavaFX. I use as gladly Netbeans as Eclipse, with a preference for the latter when it comes to it's integration of the wonderful

I am quite fluent with the MySQL Workbench type of tools, capable of modelling a relational database, upgrade it and migrate it to a different schema. I started with M$ Access and Oracle 8 (managing the databases of the B2B european yellow pages) and continued with MSSQL (migrating a huge ERP database to a quite upgraded schema) and then MySQL and PostgreSQL for most of my web applications (of which a back & front-office tool for producing automated SEO for clients was the most complex and required the most optimization). More recently I am setting up hypdrid sytems combining SQL and NoSQL databases (namely within the Alfresco framework).

Having obtained a Masters degree in Econometrics, I first applied it in macro-economic forecsts for the commission of the E.U, combining in an original way opinion surveys with sociological data to supplement traditional keynesian forcasting models. I then started to create real time models of urban dynamics, allowing me to exploit heterogenous micro-social data, together with traffic and pollution data.
I also helped as an assistant to the financial planner of a european yellow pages company and developed there numerous BI spreadsheets, together with tools of scientif watch. Until I discovered Pentaho, the which I am using presently for the management of my own companies, by combining it with the fabulous OpenERP.

Apple Mac & Objective C Development
I am presently creating my first iOS application in Objective-C (hoping to be able to later translate it to pre-compiled Scala code under LLVS) : a non-linear historical quiz meant to induce structured learning of history on the user, based on an embarked huge historical database, calling pictures from an external source according to the demand.
